  • Draw a map of the city where Montag lives

  • As Montag, write a letter to Faber telling what has happened in the year since the story ended

  • Create a poster using quotes from the book and visual symbols (guess what symbol has been chosen as the theme for these pages?)

  • Create a newspaper column that details the account of the chase  of Mongag

  • Write a bio-poem as each of the following characters
    *  Montag
    *  Beatty
    *  Clarise*
    *  Mildred
    *  Faber
    You can find information on how to write a bio-poem at 30 Days of Poetry  Day 8 or Day 9.  
    *For Clarise you may use the "Bull Durham" poem format at Day 23

an animated flameLong-term projects:

  • Present a Lincoln/Douglas (L/D) Debate with a partner on one of the themes presented in the book.  You have 15 minutes to present the debate.

  • Give a Persuasive Speech on one of the themes in the book.  You have 7-10 minutes.

  • Dramatize a scene from the book.  Present it as either a dramatic presentation or a Readers Theatre.  Two to four people may participate.  You have 5 minutes for each person in the scene.

  • Design a set for a scene in the novel.  You are also to give an oral presentation defending and explaining your design.  You have 7 minutes.

  • Write a research paper on one of the themes in the paper.  It should be 10-15 typed pages with references.

  • Create an art display that demonstrates the themes in the book.  You will give an oral presentation explaining your art display.  You have 7 minutes.

  • Create a classroom display of books.  You may work with a partner.  You have 7 minutes to explain your display.

  • Create either a newspaper or magazine based on a theme presented in the book.  Up to four people may work together.  You must distribute the newspaper/magazine to members of the class.

  • Present a trial to the class.  The characters must include a defendant, defense attorney, prosecuting attorney, and judge.  You have 20 minutes.

  • Create a scrapbook, illustrated by designs and text, that explains themes and motifs in the novel.
