Was he a myth created in the dark times following the abandonment of Britain
by the Romans? Was he a minor king around whom fantastic legends grew? Was
there really an Arthur? What about the people around him? Merlin?
Guinevere? Lancelot? The Green Knight? Morgan Le Fey?
Mordred?
The stories have lasted more than a 1,000 years. First references to King Arthur were made by a monk in the 6th century (700's) A.D. These stories have fired the imaginations of writers throughout the centuries: histories look back with nostalgia at peace that reigned during his rule. Novels have been written about the exploits of King Arthur and the Knights and Ladies that surrounded him. There have been movies made. Poems have been written. Even William Shattner (You do remember Captain Kirk, don't you?) used Arthurian characters in his Tek War novels.
I am not going to say what has so eloquently been said by other web sites. What I am going to do is ask you to search those sites and come up with your own answers to the questions posed in the first paragraph or ones posed on the Projects page.

I will give you a list of links to begin your
search on the Internet. I will give you criteria for developing your
thesis. The research is the first part of your project.
This will take you
to several pages where you may begin your research.
However, it might be a good idea to look at
the kinds of projects available to you. As you are doing your research you will have
an idea about the kinds of materials you will need for your presentation.
This will take you
to the list of projects you have available to you.
