For many educators, the end of the school year is very close. ETC Newsletters will take a break from Memorial Day to Labor Day. If there are special kinds of web sites you need, please let me know and I will use the time during the summer months looking for sites that might help you next year.

For now, there is a great site that has ideas for end-of-year bulletin boards

The New York Public Library has some great books for summer reading programs

eSchoolNews has some great ideas for funding technology:

We've all heard about the space camps. There are also writing camps available to your students. I know it's a little late for some of them, but your students or children might still be able to participate in a few of them.

The National Writing Project has affiliates in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. NWP often sponsors summer writing events for both students and teachers. You can click on the list of all sites and you will be taken to the writing project sites in your state. The address, phone, and e-mail addresses are provided.

For those of you still in school for another week or two, check out Kathy Schrock's site. There are some brain boosters here that can make the last few days of school fun as well as keeping maintaining an educational atmosphere:

Have a great summer. I will be back online again after Labor Day. In the meantime, if you have questions about sites on the web, please contact me and I'll see what I can locate for you. Also, please check out my column at Backwash. Though not all summer columns will be about education, most of them will be directed to parents on what they can do with their children during the long summer months when they might lose a lot of the learning they gained during the year.
